3. How do I purchase PlatePass All-Inclusive? PlatePass All-inclusive is purchased by accepting the service at the rental counter, opening the transponder shield box affixed to the windshield, or upon vehicle return; it allows you to use any all-electronic tollway where coverage is available. Pricing applies to each day of the rental until weekly maximum is reached, and all PlatePass charges are shown on your rental receipt.
4. Where is PlatePass available? PlatePass is offered to Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty customers throughout California (subject to some exclusions), Colorado, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, Washington, and the Northeast U.S.PlatePass is plate-based in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, and Washington. PlatePass utilizes a transponder in the Northeast E-ZPass and I-Pass regions. For a complete listing of participating toll roads and state maps, please visit PlatePass.com/locations.
5. What if I do not want to purchase PlatePass? To avoid using PlatePass or incurring administrative fees: (1) If your rental vehicle includes a transponder, make sure it remains secured within the shield box, with the shield box closed and (2) where permitted, pay all tolls with cash, with your personal toll transponder compatible with the toll road and properly mounted in the rental vehicle, or directly to the toll authority (where permitted), or (3) avoid toll roads and bridges. Some tollways without cash lanes permit payment in other ways and at other times. Toll authorities sometimes change their toll payment options. Check with the applicable toll authority to learn all payment options.
6. How much does PlatePass All-Inclusive cost? PlatePass All-Inclusive daily and weekly rates vary by state. If you do not opt in to PlatePass All-Inclusive at the counter or opt in by opening the transponder shield box, but you use cashless toll lanes without another payment method approved by the toll authority, you will be charged an administrative fee of $9.99 per calendar day when tolls are incurred, plus the cost of each toll at the toll authority’s highest, undiscounted rate.
7. If I don’t purchase PlatePass All-Inclusive, how will charges appear on my credit card? PlatePass charges applied to your credit card statement will read: Hertz Toll (or Dollar/Thrifty, as applicable), followed by your rental agreement number. Charges usually appear on the credit card statement within 1-3 weeks after the rental agreement has closed. Charges will not appear on your rental invoice. Hertz has assigned the right to bill and collect PlatePass charges to ATS Processing Services LLC/PlatePass LLC as Hertz’ agent. See your rental agreement for more information on fees.
8. What if I am paying cash and I don't have a credit card on file? You can still use PlatePass. A paper invoice will be sent to you approximately 1-3 weeks after the completion of your rental.
9. What happens if I fail to pay? Failure to pay your account in full may cause the following to occur:
• Your account may be sent to a collection agency, and you may incur additional fees.
• Your ability to rent a vehicle in the future may be affected.
10. How can I obtain a receipt? You may obtain a summary of PlatePass charges at platepass.com/receipt by entering your rental agreement number and rental date.
